Knowing God

Hola!

Welcome to my blog post this week.🤗 Today I’ll be sharing a little story and something important I learnt when I was younger as regards knowing God. Grab a cookie and enjoy!

Growing up, I was fascinated with reading many stories. This was in fact how my Bible reading began, stories first and every other thing next 😌(It’s amazing how God works with us whichever way we come to Him). I loved Bible stories, and there was an unspoken approach I had to reading them. The thing is I had spent much of my childhood learning about Bible characters, so when I read the Bible myself I did so to see and confirm that what I had heard about those guys were true. I read to confirm that I hadn’t been sold a lie😅.

The story of Job was one that stood out for me. I’m sure we know of how he lost so much but his life and later got restored. As astounding as Job’s story is, growing up, Job wasn’t who stood out for me in his story. Strange, I know! Stay with me>>>

One afternoon, I had my Bible opened and it was turned to Job 1:18-20 and I just couldn’t make sense of what was happening. Job’s children were all dead within a split second! I understood Job was experiencing much pain, but how could all his children have lost their lives? It really got me thinking, ‘If I had been Job’s daughter, would I have died too?’

In the middle of the dilemma of a young girl, I found a new light. Job pleased God as a person and knew the ways of God. His life was of much value to God that he couldn’t just lose it. We however are not so sure about the stance of Job’s children with God. That their father even had to offer much sacrifice on their behalf. Hence, if the children knew God just as much as their father did, then they also would have been a relevant threat to the devil as their father. This meant so much to me as a child. How that my mummy or daddy’s knowledge of God wasn’t enough for me and I settled it in my heart to know God for myself.

Now, I have realized that what happened to Job couldn’t be the story of the man in Christ because God isn’t having any conversations with the devil on how I run my life. However one rule is constant here that; “Somethings in life won’t come to you save you go after them, knowing God is one of such things“. As much as God loves His people, ignorance still destroys a whole lot. The enemy cheats those who do not know the great privilege and authority we have in Christ Jesus.

Daniel 11:32 sums it up as those who are knowledgeable about the God they serve shall be strong and do exploits. Knowing God gives us God-fidence and a bold approach to life. It puts us at a great advantage and makes us do exploits, not get exploited. Knowledge doesn’t come in a day, we don’t bump into it, it takes conscious and daily efforts to learn. Never be not learning about God, and trust His Spirit to help you know him even much more 🥰.

It’s less than a week to Christmas and I’m super excited. Christ is the reason for this season and because we discussed knowing God, wouldn’t it be so amazing if this year you decide to find out all there is about this man the world has celebrated for centuries. It can start with a prayer as simple as ‘ Help me know that you’re real Lord ‘ and you’re in for an amazing ride. Jesus loves you!

Merry Christmas in advance 🥳💕

Joyy to the World 🌈🌍🤗
